Meetings in Nairn Community & Arts Centre. Monthly on Wednesday afternoons 2 pm-3.30pm. Programme below.

Members learn about local, national, and global history through talks, discussions, and presentations from group members and, on occasions, from outside speakers. Content is led by members' interests and there is an emphasis on social, industrial & cultural history.

,15th October ‘Cawdor Parish – Nairn’s Neighbours’  A talk by Jenny Rose-Miller, Chair of Cawdor Heritage Society, and Trustee of Nairn Museum.

12th November ‘My British Army posting in Germany’. Brigadier Timothy Finnegan, retired British Army Officer now living in Findhorn, will talk about his time in Herford and Minden Barracks in Germany in the early 1990s .

10th December ‘The town/place where I was born.’ Matthias Nethe will lead this session, where some members, will talk for a few minutes about the interesting features of where they were born or grew up, followed by an outline of some of the town’s history.

14th January: 'Lemonade Tonight'- Notes from a POW and a Present-Day Journey of Discovery' History Group member Fiona Cameron, and her sister Carole Grant, will describe how they used their father’s WW2 diaries to learn about his three and a half years as a WW2 POW.

11th February ‘The Fantastical Beasts of Beastmarket Hill – Vaccination in the Family’ History Group member Rev Anne Attenburrow will tell us about an ancestor with a distinguished career in medical research and developments at The University of Nottingham.

11th March 'History of Brodie Castle' History Group member and NTS volunteer Matthias Nethe will talk about the history of the castle and its owners in an illustrated talk.

8th April ‘Moody and Sankey – A revival in Nairn’ History Group member Rev Anne Attenburrow will talk about visits to Nairn by two US Evangelists in the late 19th Century. An audience of 5000 came to worship on the Links and they later compiled a popular songbook.
